Meet Dr. Allan Link in Ballwin, MO & St. Louis, MO
Speaker 1: I genuinely like people, and I love working with my hands, that I used to do models as a kid. I feel that we really add value to a person's life by what we do here. What could be more basic than allowing a person to eat with comfort and smile with confidence? That's what it's all about, and I get friends ask me if I want to retire or not and I said, "Why? Why would I want to retire when I like doing what I'm doing?" Probably if you wanted to punish me you could put me in front of a computer all day in a cubicle, but that wouldn't be me.
Most rewarding part is being with the people. It’s incredible to get that hug at the end of the dental visit and say that they found a dentist that they could trust, found a dentist that didn't hurt them, and be proud of your work, too. I mean, I genuinely love working with my hands, seeing something that is done well, and a patient appreciating it.
If you're in St. Louis and you're asking about education, you always have to ask about school. I grew up in Normandy and I went to the Priory, which was a very formative school for me, because it – we only graduated 29 kids in my class. From there, I went to Duke University of North Carolina, and then I went to Wash U for dental school and became kind of a dental junkie on CE. I took so much CE in cosmetic dentistry that they asked me to talk one year at the national convention. I've taken a lot of CE in implant dentistry, and I've had one of the instructors come to our office, and we actually treated patients together for a full day. So I'm kind of a CE junkie on it, because I like what I'm doing.
Education and CE benefits patients because you stay up on the latest, and you can critically judge what is out there trying to be sold to you, because not everything is going to be good for the patient, and you have to build a knowledge of what's coming out and what you use so that you can use it to the best for the patient. Make it more comfortable, more convenient, and safer, and a better outcome. You can't do that if you don't have the CE.
Dr. Allan Link is happy to be a family dentist serving patients throughout the St. Louis area. In his more than 35 years of service, he is proud of the work he has done to help thousands of patients. He has done so by providing comprehensive care including general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, dentures, laser procedures, teeth whitening, and more. Whenever possible, Dr. Link uses non-invasive procedures, and he understands the links between oral and overall health.
Dr. Link was born in Normandy, MO and grew up in St. Louis, where he graduated from St. Louis Priory High School in 1973. After earning his undergraduate degree from Duke University (Go Blue Devils!), he graduated from the Washington University School of Dental Medicine in 1981.
Dr. Link started the practice in 1981 in South City St. Louis. He then opened the Ballwin office in 1985 and moved the city office to its current South County location the same year. Throughout his career, he has made it a priority to stay on top of the changes in dentistry.
As part of his continuing education, he has completed a program in esthetics dentistry at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He also is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantology. Dr. Link is a Fellow of the International Academy of Dental Facial Esthetics and an Invisalign Certified Provider. As a sign of the respect he has among his peers, he also has been a speaker at the national meeting of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Outside the office, Dr. Link likes to cheer on the Duke basketball team, fish, golf, and participate in scouting activities with his children. He gets sentimental about a trip he took with the scouts and his sons to Philmont, NM. He and his wife, Mary, have four children — James, Matthew, Dr. Andrew Link, and Courtney.
